Guide Overview
Connecting your HubSpot account to Lutra.
Testing the connection by asking Lutra to retrieve a few contacts.
Writing those contact details to a brand-new Google Sheet so you can confirm everything is working.
Once these steps are complete, youâll be able to leverage Lutraâs AI to automate repetitive tasks in HubSpot, such as updating properties, creating new contacts, merging duplicates, and more.
Prerequisites
HubSpot Account: Ensure you have at least âWriteâ permissions for Contacts or other objects you wish to work with.
Lutra Account: Log in to Lutra.ai to access the Chat interface.
Google Account: If you want to save your HubSpot data to a Google Sheet, youâll also need permissions to create new sheets in Google Drive.
Step 1: Connect HubSpot to Lutra
Option A: Connect via the Integrations Page
Open Lutra: Log in and navigate to your Lutra dashboard.
Go to Integrations: Locate the Tools page (on the left menu).
Find HubSpot: Click on the HubSpot tile or âConnectâ button.
Authorize: Approve Lutraâs requested permissions, ensuring Lutra can create, read, and update Contacts.
Connection Confirmed: After authorizing, youâll return to Lutra, and HubSpot should now appear as âConnected.â
Option B: Connect via Chat
Open a new Chat: Click âNew Chatâ in Lutra.
Prompt: Instruct Lutra, for example:
Retrieve the last 3 contacts from my HubSpot.
Authorize: Lutra will detect that HubSpot isnât yet connected, prompting you to log in and grant permissions.
Connection Confirmed: Once authorized, Lutra will proceed with your request and fetch the contacts.
Step 2: Test the Connection by Retrieving Contacts
Open a New Chat: Either continue in the same chat or start fresh.
Ask for Sample Contacts: For example:
Retrieve 5 contacts from my HubSpot and show me their details.
Lutraâs Response: Lutra will summarize each contact, typically including fields like Name, Email, Company, and Lifecycle Stage.
Tip: If you have specific criteriaâlike recently added leadsâadd it to your prompt (e.g., âRetrieve 5 contacts created in the last 30 daysâ).
Step 3: Write Contact Details to a New Google Sheet
Initiate the Sheet Creation:
After Lutra shows you the contact details in the chat, say:Create a new Google Sheet named "HubSpot Contact Test" and put these 5 contacts into the sheet with all available details.
Grant Permissions:
If Lutra hasnât yet connected to your Google account, it will prompt you for authorization.
Approve the requested scopes to allow sheet creation and data entry.
Lutraâs Confirmation:
Lutra should reply with a link to the newly created sheet.
The sheet will typically list the columns (name, email, company, etc.) across the top row, with each contact in its own row.
Step 4: Verify Your Data
Open the Sheet: Open the right drawer in the Lutra interface or look for âHubSpot Contact Testâ in your Google Drive.
Check the Columns: Confirm that the properties you expect to see (e.g., Name, Email, Lifecycle Stage) are present.
Spot Check Accuracy: Compare one or two records in HubSpot to make sure the data matches.

Troubleshooting & Tips
No Contacts Found: If Lutra says no contacts were found, double-check your HubSpot permission settings or ensure you have existing contacts.
Stale Data: If youâre not seeing the most recent contacts, specify your filters in the prompt (e.g., âRetrieve the last 5 contacts created in the last weekâ).
Preview First: If youâre unsure about large updates, ask Lutra to retrieve just a few (e.g., âRetrieve 2 contactsâ) to test.
